PARENTS TESTIMONIALS

My son has been doing drama for 3 years and my daughter, 1 year. They both love Kids Up Front, especially their teacher Gay who is just wonderful with the children. She works with them in such a fabulous way to bring out their best. She is incredibly patient and understanding and is very nurturing with the kids.

My son (age 10) has always been keen to perform and Kids Up Front has given him that outlet. He thoroughly enjoys the end of year performance and has amongst other things, developed the wonderful skill of improvisation. My daughter (age 7), on the other hand, was never one to perform but since starting drama she has become much more confident when speaking in front of a group, and comments from her teacher indicate that her news presentations are always very well done. She loves the fun games they play during class and has brought along a number of her friends to join.

We as parents are always made to feel welcome and I appreciate the opportunity of being invited along to Open Days to watch the class in action.

I have no recommendation in recommending Kids Up Front. It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn life skills in a fun and exciting environment.

My children, now in Yr 4 and 6 have both attended Kids Up Front Drama classes since kindergarten. They are both still thoroughly enjoying it.

My son, now in his seventh year of classes, is School Vice-Captain, and a keen public speaker and debater. As I have a great deal of anxiety with public speaking, I sometimes ask him before a performance whether he is nervous. He looks at me quizzically and always says "No!" I truly believe that doing drama from an early age has allowed him to perform without anxiety as it comes as second nature.

My daughter in Yr 4 is similar - rarely reluctant to be in the spotlight. They are both keen and expressive readers with great imaginations - drama has certainly been a factor in their development of these skills. The performances at the Zenith theatre are looked forward to with excitement - last year they were both keen to get back there and do it all over again the following night!!!
Whilst kids often get overloaded with after school activities, drama has been "non-negotiable" in our house, something I've been keen to continue and the children have always been delighted to attend.

Our daughter attended Karin Clifford's Drama classes for almost two years - she had always had an interest in Drama and wanted to improve her verbal communication. The classes improved her clarity of her thinking - she had to understand what her co-students were asking of her and had to make them understand her ideas - they came up with some great skits and had loads of fun. After only one school term she was able to give articulate and confident class presentations at school and this newfound ability continued to improve her performance as a debater and school leader

Having recently attended my daughter Emma's last Kids Up Front Drama concert it caused me to reflect on her first concert 6 years ago and the changes in her that have taken place. It was wonderful to see the improvement in her self-confidence she demonstrated on stage before so many people.

Emma has gone from a 6 year old who was nervous standing before her classmates for "show & tell" to a confident 12 year old who was awarded House Captain at her school this year. This role requires her to speak at school assemblies on a regular basis which for her was a large part of wanting that role! My many thanks to you and your gorgeous staff for the fun and encouragement she has received.

The past few years have not been easy for either Tessa or Michael, as we have moved interstate three times in the space of only 12 months. So it was good for them to be able to find a stable, well-structured and friendly environment in which to express themselves and explore a creative side of their personalities.

Added to these obvious benefits their self-confidence has grown to a level where there is no apprehension in making presentations in front of class, or indeed even asking questions and expressing opinions.

For these things I am sure the past two years at Kids Up Front has played a large part and for this my wife and I are grateful. We would also like to say how much we enjoyed the concert and most impressive was the level of competency of the acts. Once again thank you for providing this FUN facility for our children to learn and grow.

KIDS TESTIMONIAL

I have been doing Drama for nearly 4 years! I am in year six. Unfortunately this is my last year of Drama! I am soo sad. I am 12 years old. I got all good comments from my class when I did a speech on a sportsperson. I think it is all thanks to you! After 3 Zenith concerts I cannot wait till we start rehearsing for the next! I hope I get a main part. My favourite activities have been: Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, Bus Stop, I am Walking, the mirror image thingy and performing skits. I used to be very shy but now I feel very expressive and am not afraid to get up and perform.

This is my 7th year of drama with Up Front and I've loved every class that we've had. I think doing drama has helped me in public speaking - projecting my voice and using my expressions to make my speech more interesting to listen to.
I also think that drama has helped me to be more creative, teaching me to use my imagination. After drama classes, I feel hyped up, full of energy (sometimes too much …)
The end of year productions at the Zenith Theatre are fun to do and I enjoy performing in front of a big crowd and I feel proud when we finish the play that we've worked on for so long

"Hi,
My name's Anita Moser and I'm 10. I've been going to Drama for 3 and a bit years and am now the longest-standing member of my Kids Up Front drama class in Mosman. I love drama and I don't think life would be the same without. I like playing drama games and doing a play at the end of the year. The teachers are nice too, and they give you great tips on how to perform. This way I think I've become more creative, and that's good since it helps me act like I'm doing nothing for Mum on Mother's Day (hey, hey)!

It is really fun and after classes I feel refreshed and ready for anything!! At the Zenith Theatre concert I was nervous at the start because it was my first time, but at the end I felt really proud of myself and I loved acting on stage to an audience. I'm really looking forward to it this year. In speeches at school I feel more confident because of drama and I can express myself using different voices and emotions. My favourite part of the classes is making characters for plays.

I have attended Kids Up Front Drama Academy at Abbotsford Public School for 18 months. I am 11 years old. I like being active and acting out different roles.

Drama has helped me to control my emotions and to build my confidence. I am now more confident to act in school plays and I am not so nervous with public speaking.

Every Tuesday I look forward to going to drama class where I can be with other kids, act and have fun. At the end of the lesson I am always tired but happy.
